Diwali in Patna, my hometown seems incomplete without the idea of a Gharonda — a miniature house originally made out of mud or wood and done up by the kids in the family to reflect the festivities. Much like everything else, it’s rooted in the gender binary but photographed above is one of the many Gharondas I had decorated growing up.
